I wrote this in stages, around the time I returned to the UK last September for the first time since I left to move to Sydney in March 2017. It’s kind of a long one but was pretty therapeutic for me to write so, it stays. One week before returning, I’m not really giving much thought to it. I’m busy booking travel, figuring out dates, rearranging things. I’m going back for my granny’s funeral which means things are a little short notice, and I’m scrambling to get everything done and packed to leave on time. I’m mostly looking forward to…
Are you a science nerd? Well, from one science nerd to another, welcome. If you’re not a science nerd, perhaps you like food? Or picnics? Being outdoors? Historic properties? Hilarious selfie fails? If so, I got you. If not, I’m sorry. Maybe try back next week. Last weekend I took a last minute road trip with Kelly up the A1, a road I have a chequered history with. This time it was totally different, with the sun on our faces and a breeze through our hair (well, the air con anyway) we set off in search of history and intrigue.…
We recently spent a weekend visiting family in Leeds. I had the best time and apparently, when our family gets together, much food is required. Hence began our culinary tour of Leeds. Last weekend, I found myself at a loose end for the simple reason that S was going to be away doing some fun solo travelling (he still is away, in fact) and I didn’t want to miss out on the fun. So to compensate I found a nice looking hotel and clicked the book button. When the spa weekend arrived, I couldn’t have been happier. An entire weekend alone* fills some people with dread, but not me. Here’s why I absolutely loved my spa weekend away. You can starfish the bed ¦¦…
I know I’m English and therefore I like to talk about the weather a lot, but indulge me on this one. Recently we’ve had some glimmers that Spring may finally be on its way to London, and I couldn’t be happier. Seeing the sun and some beautiful blue skies really does have an incredible effect on my happiness – and I don’t think I’m the only one. So I thought I’d share some touches of Spring from around London town. For a start there’s the sudden burst of blossom that seems to have happened overnight. I love blossom. You can even…
