Remember when I went to work in France for a bit last year? Well, turns out my co-worker’s daughter was doing an internship at Taittinger at the time, and due to this fortuitous turn of events we found ourselves making the hour-long trip up the autoroute to Reims one sunny Wednesday afternoon. We had been booked a place on the last cellar tour of the day, led by none other than my colleague’s daughter herself. For free! Don’t mind if I do. Let’s back up a minute – founded in 1734, Taittinger is one of the last Champagne houses to…
I wrote about the delicious gluten free food available in Paris exactly a year ago (!), but having spent a couple of weekends in the city recently I realised that quite a bit has changed so I decided it was high time for a follow up post. Sidenote: Please excuse the variable photo quality. These photos were taken over the course of two weekends, during one of which the catastrophic terror attacks took place across the city. Whilst I felt perfectly safe myself, my mind was definitely elsewhere and I was also wary of whipping out my camera and looking…
Being the slightly mean blogger that I am, I treated you to lots of pretty pictures from a gorgeous French town a couple of weeks ago, and then refused to tell you where it actually was. Yeah it was work confidentiality reasons blah blah. The project has finished now, and I am happy to reveal that my mystery French town was… Troyes! Note: she’s 4.5, loves ballet, and her favourite colours are…

Despite being told where it was, I walked past the airport postbox 3 times before finally spotting it. Would you have spotted this?? Driving… on the right hand side! That’s a first for me. It wasn’t as scary as I thought, apart from when I absent-mindedly tried to change gear using the door handle…. Avoiding… the local speciality here, Andouillette. It’s a sausage made from pig colons and intestines. Colons. I’m sure you can understand my reluctance, especially when it’s been described as ‘strong tasting’ and…
This is a hard post to write. I’m not sure how to begin, or end. I’m not really sure about the bit in the middle either. So I suppose I’ll just start writing and see how it goes. I was staying in Paris this last weekend, and was horrified and hugely saddened by the events that unfolded. Despite the fact I was in the city when it all happened, I feel like an imposter. I don’t live here and I don’t know any of the victims so it seems almost inappropriate for me to throw in my two cents. Also,…
