Happy 2019! We made it! And yes, I’m still alive. Seeing as I last stopped by at the end of October, I thought I’d fill you in on what’s been going on with me since then. Sneak peek: Let’s begin! The new apartment is great It feels like I’ve hardly set foot in our apartment since we moved in, but we did manage to squeeze in a housewarming party whilst my Mum was still over here which was definitely an achievement. So far, the flat is working out pretty well for us, especially given how much cheaper it is than…
Welcome to our one year expativersary celebration post! We made it a whole year in Australia! Now, this may not mean much to anyone else, but I believe life is all about celebrating the small wins as well as the big ones, and I am choosing to celebrate today. One year ago today, we stepped off a plane bleary eyed and full of excitement (and bad plane food, boiled fish for dayyys), ready to start our journey. Instead of the usual monthly update, I thought I’d do something a bit different this time and share a bit more about why…
February in the UK is usually my most hated month. It’s still so cold, and it has been for what seems like forever, there are no fun holidays to brighten things up, and everyone is still poor after Christmas. So it’s been a breath of fresh air (literally) to be somewhere warm for a February, and I have to say it’s made all the difference. It’s been a fun month – here’s what’s happened. The Good Visiting the Sunshine Coast ¦¦ We were able to take a long weekend break to the Sunshine Coast and it was just the ticket. We…
Our ninth month of Australia has been a lot more chilled than the previous 8, and I have to say that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The Good Happy New Year! ¦¦ In case you hadn’t noticed, Sydney does NYE biiiig. Even though we had a low key night in with friends and boardgames, it was still so fun to be out and about in the city whilst preparations were being made. Everyone is in the party spirit, and seeing the elaborate preparations people put on to secure a prized harbourfront position for the fireworks was something else. There’s nothing like the…
And just like that, we’re officially three quarters of the way through our first year living in Australia. What now. It was definitely an action packed month, as I think most people’s Decembers probably were. Without further ado, here’s the good, bad and [sign up for the] ugly of our 8th month as expats. The Good Moar visitors ¦¦ The visitor train continues! This month we had a visit from one of our Bedford friends, who just so happens to be Australian. She was visiting her family for Christmas and kindly made space in her schedule for us to take her…
