Unfortunately, today is the last ever Travel Tuesday link-up – in its current form, at any rate. I’m genuinely really sad to see the Travel Tuesday link-up go, because it’s the first link-up I ever joined as a brand shiny new blogger. I added my post about my favourite things to do in Middle Head, Sydney (including my favourite ever afternoon tea) way back in January 2015. Whilst that seems like forever ago to me, I know that some of you reading were linking up way before that.
In bidding farewell to Travel Tuesday, I don’t want to wave goodbye to the community it created. That’s why I blog; it’s not for the numbers, for the Instagram fame (ha) or the freebies. This is my hobby, something I do to escape my sometimes stressful day job, and to connect with others who like the same things as me. Through this link up I’ve met people who’ve lived in the coolest places (quite literally), plenty of expats with really interesting lives, and even a fellow alumna on the other side of the world. So I’d encourage you to take our OG Travel Tuesday community spirit and spread it around some of the other wonderful link-ups that take place on a weekly or monthly basis.
Alternative Travel Link-ups
#TravelTuesday ¦¦ Bumble Bee Mum writes some of the most comprehensive, tip-filled posts I’ve ever read. If you like travel around Singapore and Japan, and/or travel with children, I highly recommend this link-up which runs every Tuesday.
Travel link up ¦¦ Hosted by Emma, Jessi and Angie with one bonus extra rotating host, this is a monthly link-up with a theme. The theme is emailed out with plenty of notice, so make sure you’re on the mailing list to keep in the loop. It opens on the first of the month, every month.
Wanderful Wednesday ¦¦ Hosted by Van, Marcella, Lauren and Isabel, this brand shiny new link up is off to a kick-ass start and you’ll find many of your previous Travel Tuesday participants hanging out here. This link-up runs every Wednesday.
City Tripping ¦¦ Mummy Travels and Wander Mum host this link-up for posts about city travels. You don’t have to post about travel with kids to join in, you just have to post about city travels. This link-up runs every Tuesday.
Honourable mention
Wanderlust Wednesdays ¦¦ This has been a great monthly link-up run by Kerri, Kate and Emily but will be coming to a close next month. Boo! So if you want to join in the fun one last time, it will open on Wednesday 8th June. And I recommend you check these lovely ladies out anyway because they’re awesome.
You can find a more comprehensive list here.
Link-up tips
From one blogger to another, please don’t just dump your link and run. The short term boost in page views is nothing compared to getting to know your fellow bloggers. Take a minute to interact with the other bloggers in the link-up in whatever way you like – comment on their post, send them a tweet to let them know you enjoyed it, follow them on Instagram… honestly I can assure you they’ll be delighted.
And now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for…
The Final Travel Tuesday
We are inviting all past participants and former co-hosts to join together for one last link-up today with a theme highlighting the best of Travel Tuesday! Share your favourite memories from the link-up or provide a personal montage of the blogger friends you’ve made through Travel Tuesday. Feel free to share up to five posts, whether yours or favourites from other bloggers, so that this last link-up features the best of what #TravelTuesday provided!
I’m excited to link up with all you wonderful people one last time this week for the best Travel Tuesday link-up yet!
Awww… I just discovered the world of link ups this week and I’m sad that what seems to be a great one is coming to its end! Travel Tuesday’s last is my first. Hello and farewell… 😉 http://littlescratch.com.au/must-see-milford-sound-three-things-to-do/
It’s always the way! Still, at least we’ve found each other now, better late than never eh? I’ve followed you on Bloglovin’ so I can keep up with your posts, do you have Twitter or Instagram or anywhere else we can stay in touch?
I’ve a lot to learn – don’t know about Bloglovin! Thanks, Rach. My Instagram is @littlescratch.com.au… Just started following you 😊
This is so, so lovely & so sad!!
Thank you for the wee mention of our little linkup xx
I’m really sad about Travel Tuesday ending, but I hope we gave it a good send off. No problem, I do enjoy joining in your linkup and it’s good to have a monthly one because I can really take my time over reading and sharing the posts.
Thanks for the list of link ups. I’m so sad to see Travel Tuesday AND wanderlust Wednesday go within two weeks! :(. Definitely my two favorites!!
No problem, hopefully I’ll see you there! It’s such a shame about Wanderlust Wednesday too, I always enjoyed that one as I feel like there was a totally different community there for me to get involved with. At least there are new linkups starting now and again too, like Wanderful Wednesday!
thanks for the shout out my pretty friend! sometimes we have to just take a break from a linkup to allow for others to happen. and maybe we can even do one! options are endless 😉
xoxo cheshire kat
No probs. Yes, I totally agree: turns out running a linkup is a huge commitment and I’m impressed you managed it so well for so long. And girlfrand YES we could totally do one together! The sky’s the limit!
Sad indeed! Thanks for being a wonderful host though! xx
Thanks Daisy! I don’t think I can take any credit whatsoever, I’ve just enjoyed the ride. Thanks for participating 🙂
so sad..I really liked this link up and I’ve came across so many cool blogs through it…
I know, it’s really sad. I’ve found some of my favourite reads via Travel Tuesday, so I’m sorry to see that go. I’m hoping we can spread the love around some other linkups though!
Bummer! It’s such a fun linkup!
I know! Still, onwards and upwards and who know’s what’s around the corner, right?
So sad, this was my favorite link-up! Glad we got to be a part of it though!
I know, it was so awesome! And I’m glad I found you through it too 🙂
That’s so sad! Travel Tuesday was one of the first linkups that I started joining when I first started blogging too! It was always so much fun to read about all the exciting travels others were going on!
Yes! I think that’s maybe where I first blog-met you, now I come to think about it…? I don’t recall. I loved the virtual journey around the world every week, but alas. I’ll just have to do that on another day of the week now!
Thank you for mentioning my #citytripping linky and great advice about how to get the most out of link ups! Joining in #traveltuesday for the first time. x
You’re welcome! And I thought the advice was worth sharing, it helps us all. Thanks for joining us for the first and last time!
Sad it’s the last linky but you’ve put together some great alternatives!
Thanks! There are so many great options out there, and the more chances we have to interact with fellow travel bloggers the better.
So glad you have met you, Rachel! Though I’m sure we crossed paths many times in Birmingham without knowing it 😉
I’m sure we did, how strange is that! Hopefully we can cross paths one day and know it 🙂 thanks for your lovely post this week, a cracker as always!
Always sad when a linkup you’ve enjoyed participating ends. Great tips about how to make the most of link ups too – it really is worth your while checking out other posts from bloggers similar to you, that’s the best part of link ups – finding new blogs 🙂
Away From The Blue Blog
I know, it really is. Especially when it’s one that had such a strong community like Travel Tuesday did. And linkups are all about finding new friends! I think a lot of people do it for traffic now, but traffic is quite literally here today and gone tomorrow. Blog friends are for life! And sometimes they even buy you cake 😉
hehe the cake is the best bit! 😉
Travel Tuesday is such a fun linkup! So sad it’s over!
I know! It’s a real bummer. Still, there are some great alternatives to get involved in and hopefully meet some more new bloggers.
Wow! Look at all these wonderful posts and blogs for me to explore. Thank you for sharing. Just when I got myself organized (slightly) enough to post on a couple of these link-ups, a couple of them end.
Yep, the possibilities certainly are endless! That’s why I love linkups. Oh, it’s always the way with finally getting into something just as the wave has crested – story of my life! Thanks for joining in this week 🙂
oh i’m sorry that your link up is ending. i wish i travelled more so i could have participated in travel link ups more often!
It is a real shame, but I’m glad to have met the bloggers I have. It would have been lovely to have you participate, I don’t know maybe we could have made the linkup more expat inclusive. I hope you get to travel more because I love reading what you get up to – and what you pack!
Thanks for sharing the list of other link ups. Through this I’ve just discovered a couple of excellent blogs I wouldn’t have known about otherwise.
I’m glad! There are so many great blogs out there, it’s hard to know where to start sometimes.
Came by today and I’m sad to see it end! I don’t post travel all the time, but when I do I stop by and enjoyed the other posts. Thanks for the suggestions for other linkups. Bookmarking this page!
Great link up suggestions and thank you for sharing Travel LInkup! Sad to see Travel Tuesday go – I’ve discovered so many great bloggers through it.
