Oops I’m in Turkey

I made it!

Funny story: turns out S accidentally booked us business class tickets out to Istanbul. Apparently they were the cheapest; I’m not complaining. We flew with Turkish Airlines and the highlight was a gluten free lunch that was actually really tasty. No boiled fish in sight!

Full review coming soon…

We arrived last night and have spent the today tramping around Beyoğlu, our local district.

So far, we have seen little back streets stuffed with gorgeous cafes…

…found some awesome street art…

…glimpsed the Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque from afar…

…had our own bespoke Turkish delight made for us by a delightful man…

…my hair has reached heights of frizz as yet unknown to man, thanks to the drizzly weather….

…and S has been mistaken for an Iranian, and had his nipples tweaked as a consequence. Good times.

If you’re on for more, I’ve reactivated my dormant Instagram account (@anestingnomad) and will be snapchatting (anestingnomad) to an obnoxious degree as well.

    • 29th March 2016 / 16:51

Seriously Turkish Airlines food was amazing. I now want to fly all my flights with them. I don’t care that we only had overhead screens on the way back because I had the most DELICIOUS kofte. With sufficient carbs to go with it (never happens). I’m still dreaming about it a little bit?

I’m as surprised as you! It was such a treat, although we flew economy on the way back and honestly that was almost as good. The Turkish delight was so good we had to go back for another box…!

After I watched the movie Taken 2 I was obsessed with Istanbul. It looks so beautiful and unique!

    • 29th March 2016 / 16:54

You know, I haven’t seen that film but I enjoyed Taken and I definitely enjoyed Istanbul so maybe I will go and watch it! It’s such a cool place. I’d heard it was a mix of east and west but if you ask me it’s something else besides. So unique.

Ha, you may wish you hadn’t said that by the time I’m done with my deluge! Noticing the differences is so much fun, it’s good to think about culture and what’s important and not important.
