I recently bought a new lens for my camera, and I decided to try it out by taking it for a day trip to London.
(Technically speaking I went to London for work, and then ran around afterwards trying to snap photos in the failing light, but still. Same same.)
These are the somewhat experimental snaps I took. I hope you like them.
This is my London.
This last one is for any Farscape (or Tchaikovsky) fans. Seeing as I already had my camera out, I couldn’t resist.
I love the different textures, colours and contrasts that the city provides. They may be a bit obtuse, but these pictures instantly take me to the places I’m familiar with.
How would you capture your city?

great photos!
I’m pleased you like them!
I love getting a new lens and then trying it out on everything! What kind did you end up getting? I really love that picture of the stairs!
It’s so exciting! Like Christmas! I got a 20mm lens for my Panasonic Lumix G7X, which is the equivalent to a 40mm lens as the Panasonic is a micro 4/3 system. The stairs picture seems to be popular! Glad you like it. I walk that way every day that I commute into London 🙂
omg these are amazing. photo #2 may be my fav! (i know you didn’t ask but i picked anyway haha)

I’m glad you enjoyed them! And I’m always keen to hear favourites – I’m particularly fond of #2 as well, and also #6. It’s weird and I like it!
They turned out great! What kind of lens did you buy?
I got a 20mm lens for my Panasonic Lumix G7X, which is a mirrorless micro 4/3 system which means the lens is equivalent to a normal 40mm lens. So far, I think it’s amazing!
Those are all cool photos, I need to up my camera game!.

I’m glad you like them! My lens made it easy to be honest….
Gorgeous photos! I love the stair shot best 🙂 My London photos would consist of world food, green parks and the bright lights of the evening!
Mmmmm world food. If I’d had any food, I definitely would have photographed it! That’s one of my favourite things about London. If you can think of a cuisine, there will be somewhere that serves it. Multiculturalism is awesome.
Love the details! My London would be sunrises and sunsets on the river, market food and right now, all the gorgeous autumn colours in the parks 🙂
Oh the autumn colours are so pretty. Almost makes the rain bearable..! Food markets are one of my favourite ways to spend a day, and I haven’t been to nearly enough in London. Need to work on that one I think..!
There’s definitely enough there to keep you busy!
As an architect, I really like the photo with the metal construction in contrast with a brick wall.
I found it very appealing, too. Glad I’m not the only one! And from an architect, that’s really saying something!
these are gorgeous photos! if i was capturing my London.. it would probably be me doing a happy dance that i was actually in London. lol
Happy dance! Maybe I’ll do that next week (or when I go to Sydney…!)
awesome pics, i love London through your eyes 🙂
Glad you enjoyed them! It looks quite pretty, doesn’t it?!
I’m liking the stairs and the brick & metal.
Who knew stairs could be so photogenic! I’m glad you liked them 🙂
Wow these photos are amazing!!!! 🙂
Ahh glad you like them!
I think it is great that despite running out of time you still found it in you to go photo-exploring.
Thanks for joining in #wednesdaywanderlust this week
I actually found it was a really nice way to destress at the end of the day! Glad you liked them.
I really like the first pic, I don’t even know what it is but it looks cool! You have a great eye.
It’s the window in the door between tube carriages! I like taking photos of things we see every day but never really look properly at.
These are such interesting pictures! I had to look at some of them for a while to figure out what they were. Love that!
I’m really pleased you liked them! I like photos that make you stop and think too 🙂
You did such a beautiful job of capturing London! The pictures are unusual and I love that! I think all the little details you captured are perfect!
