It’s finally here!
This year has been particularly full, travel-wise, but the trip we’re about to take is the pinnacle of the lot. Tomorrow, we leave for our grand US trip and I absolutely cannot wait. These last few months have been really hectic at work and I’m so ready for a break. We’re away for two whole weeks, and I can’t remember the last time S and I went on a trip that long, just the two of us.
Our itinerary is pretty packed, and we’re going to a lot of places. Here’s what it looks like.
- 2 1/2 days in Chicago
- 2 days on the Empire Builder Amtrak train between Chicago and Seattle (the trip actually spans 2 nights and 3 days… and yes, I’m taking a lot of books)
- 2 1/2 days in Seattle
- 7 days on a cruise ship calling at Junea, Ketchika, Skagway and Victoria, plus some scenic cruising around Glacier Bay. We’ve got some pretty cool excursions planned whilst on the cruise, as well as hopefully catching up with family in Victoria.
I basically plan to catch up with all the reading I’ve not had time for over the summer, stuff my face, and enjoy having no responsibilities for 2 weeks. Hurray!
Sidenote: I absolutely love my new passport cover, which came in my July My Little Box, and my new travel wallet which I bought from Kikki.K. I love that shop so very much.
I don’t think I’ll have access to wifi at all during the trip, apart from at my hotels in Chicago and Seattle. And you know what hotel wifi is like. So, the best place to catch up with where I am is probably Instagram, because Snapchat is just too data hungry.
Whilst I’m away you’ll see content that I’ve pre-written go up, unless I’m lucky enough to hit some reliable wifi. I am however planning to live blog the whole trip as we go, which I’ll post when I’m back.
Finally, as ever, I have to ask: do you have any recommendations for Chicago, the Empire Builder train, Seattle, Junea, Ketchikan, Skagway or Victoria? Especially gluten free food related ones? If so, please let me know! And other than that, I’ll catch you on the flip side.
