Being gentle with oneself

The overwhelm was real.I’ve not really shown up here since before Christmas, and it’s been great. No offence. I’ve spent entire days baking, entire days watching Netflix, entire days surrounded by family, entire days alone. All have been blissful, all have been much-needed. The end of last year passed by in an extreme blur and I felt like I barely took a breath between about August and Christmas Day, so I had quite some catching up to do.

 

I think, in summary, I’ve been spending the new year being kind to myself. Now I’ve taken the time I needed and I feel immeasurably better for it, and ready to come back to the blog and generally crack on with things.

I’ve missed catching up with everyone and seeing what’s going on in people’s lives, so bear with me while I catch up? In summary, the blog is back and if you’ve forgotten who I am hi, I’m Rachel, and sometimes I write about my life on the internet.

For a start I’ve given things a bit of a new look around here, although I’ve kind of half-assed it because I’m weighing up the great WordPress switch over debate. Anyone have any opinions?

Coming up will be me recapping the aforementioned trips at the back end of last year, including my slightly stressful weekend in Brisbane, my day trip to Ettalong, plenty of gambolling in the ocean, and some gluten free tales from Paris. I also promise there will be no more whingeing about my feelings for a good long while.

    oh hey you! fancy new look girl! welcome back, glad you’ve been having a fun time not blogging. life is for living and all that. i have no opinions about wordpress or switching, i’ve only ever been with blogger. so obviously i like blogger lol. i whinge about my feelings all the time, isn’t that why we have blogs?! lol.

      Oh hey! Glad you like it, you know its time to change when the old design starts to grate on your nerves… Life is for living or, in my case, sitting on the sofa eating far too much chocolate. Hey! Potayto potahto.

      I mean you’re probably right about blogging being for whingeing, but at least your whinges are amusing! I think mine have been altogether too maudlin and it just needs to stop for everyone’s sakes!

    Welcome back to blog-land! I think spending time disconnecting is necessary now and then, burn-out is never nice and spending some time with friends, family and just yourself is really important. Blogs are always there to come back to 🙂

    Happy new year, and thanks for all your sweet catch-up comments on my blog. 🙂 I did a post about my wardrobe detox experience that might answer your questions. Basically, you need (or I needed!) a third party, a friend if not a professional stylist, to help make the tough decisions.

    Love your new blog look and feel! I don’t have any advice about wordpress as I’m still happily on blogger, but you should do whatever makes you happy (and that includes talking about your feelings as much or as little as you like!)

    Taking that time for yourself must have felt so good! I mean, even being able to wind down on one day off from work feels great so I’m sure those days you took for yourself felt amazing. Beautiful photo of the jacaranda tree in Sydney, by the way. I fell in love with the jacaranda trees here in Adelaide recently.

    I’m so glad that you’re back to blogging, but I totally understand the need to take some time to yourself! Sometimes you really just need some time to relax and unwind!

      Ahhh thanks! I’m really glad to be back, and I’m excited to see what you’ve been up to as well! I’m definitely refreshed after my break, it was so necessary. I feel a little bit like I blinked and a month passed, but I do know I feel a lot better for it!
