I’ve been in Sydney now for 5 days and it’s passed in a whirlwind of niece cuddles and games of hide-and-seek with my nephew, with snatched conversations with my sister whenever we can manage it. Whilst my niece has been glued to my side the entire time (she’s even asked if she can watch me shower…), my nephew is somewhat more reserved. He has learned how to say my name (tricky for an 18 month old), which comes out a bit like waa-shu, but after that loses interest in any further contact. What can I say, he’s going through an independent phase.
I’ve been taking a gentle approach to my holiday activities, as the past few weeks have been
busy to
say the least. So yesterday I went for a gentle potter around the CBD in Sydney, visiting the Museum of Contemporary Art on my way. Unfortunately it was a bit overcast, but I took some pictures anyway and I thought I’d share a couple of them here, in case anyone feels like a vicarious trip to Sydney.
Let’s go!

P.S. I’m guest posting over at Diana Elle Blog while Diana’s away on hols about the differences between an English and an Australian Christmas. You can read it here.
um yes please, more photos. haha jk. hope you’re having a ball.
I’m working on it! We went to the beach today, it was absolutely beautiful! The water was like, ultraviolet blue. Incredible. I am having such a ball!
So amazing! I am so glad that you are getting good quality time with family, it’s the best! 🙂
The quality family time is unbeatable. I’m going to be so sad when I have to leave!
I can’t even imagine being that far away from family, so I kind of understand why your niece is permanently attached to you. It sounds like you’re having a great time and I can’t wait to hear more about your trip!
Yes, it’s rough, but it makes these trips even more amazing. I’m glad she’s still interested in me, not looking forward to the moody teenage years! I am indeed having a great time, the absolute best 🙂
Sydney is beautiful, glad you are enjoying it and getting to spend time with your family. Your niece sounds adorable! 🙂
Sydney is such a photogenic city, feel free to share more photos! 🙂

She is adorable! My nephew is too, he’s just a little more shy as he is too young to remember who we are. We’re getting there, though! Sydney is unbelievably photogenic, just when you think you’re used to it it just gets better!
